Dear Airline, Business Class = Bigger Appetite?

Have you been told that flying Business or First on an airline means you’ll get more leg space, larger seats with more reclines and a lot of
comfort, special attention by the onboard staff and food will be served to you in porcelain, not plastic boxes, with real cutlery etc.?

True. All of that is true.

But what surprised me out of my business class seat on a flight recently is that the food served was MORE than the food served in economy, on the same airline!

How do I know this?

Because I flew economy one way and took a business ticket for the return as it allowed me more luggage allowance than economy (retail therapy is the latest bane in my life) and was cheaper than buying excess baggage.

So imagine my surprise that not only was I given the food in porcelain dishes with steel cutlery, the quantity was a lot more than what I was served in economy.

The predominant question is — do people in Business and/or First class feel more hungry than those in economy?

I understand the offering of ‘perks’ for the fares they charge and all the exclusivity — lounge access, separate entrances and exits, more comfort and lesser crowd, and maybe even better alcohol — but a larger quantity of food? Since when is that exclusive to those paying more for the ‘seat’? That’s’ true discrimination, I feel.
