Guided City Tours
Unravel the Mystery, Magic, Heritage, History, Culture, Cuisine and More on these day tours with a Knowledgeable Guide.
This is a Walking Tour of Fort Kochi, a charming coastal enclave in the city of Kochi, Kerala, where history lingers in the salty sea breeze and every street tells a story.
This historic neighborhood was once a bustling hub of colonial trade and power, successively ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British, each leaving their imprint on its architecture, cuisine, and culture.
On this walking tour, you will meet your guide at the 16th century St. Francis Church, where Vasco da Gama was buried.
You’ll explore the cobblestone streets lined with heritage bungalows, crumbling forts, and old-world churches and get transported to another era.
Lunch will be at an eatery where guests can have a version of Biryani that is famous in these parts – beef, pork, egg and vegetarian options would be available.
Fort Kochi also has a few of the last remaining Chinese fishing nets that are still in use and if you’re lucky, you’d be able to see fishermen use them.
What sets Fort Kochi apart is its rich tapestry of influences, with echoes of Jewish, Portuguese, and Malabari traditions coexisting in harmony.
You’ll get to taste some of the famous local snacks of Kerala – pazam pori (banana fritters), parippu vada (lentil fritters) or unniyappam (steamed rice balls stuffed with banana and jaggery) with tea or coffee.
The tour will end with a stunning performance of Kerala’s famous folk dance – Kathakai, followed by Kerala’s ancient martial art (and perhaps the oldest in the world) – Kalaripayattu.
Between the performances, guests can also see how the artists apply their make up.
