HOT HIDEAWAYS

Destination – Kochi, Kerala

Our need to unwind and actually take time to smell the backwaters, as it were, brought us to this villa. A former local village leader’s home, this is a renovation project that took nearly three years to complete. This villa is where we come to read, watch the birds, go kayaking, swim and essentially just ‘be.’  Without televisions, at our villa, it’s all about putting those gadgets away. Here’s where we unwind and wait for the world to catch up with us.

We are passionate about perfection, and this is something you will see everywhere around the property. We were lucky to find an architect who seemed to put into reality every idea we had only imagined. Rebuilt from scratch.

Every little artefact tells a story here – from lamps by the pool inspired by mussel-catching baskets to outdoor overhead lights inspired by the local Chinese fishing nets next-door (our neighbor’s main source of livelihood today remains fishing).

The Rooms

All four air-conditioned luxury bedrooms look out over the backwaters. Two of these four bedrooms have their own private plunge pools. Wake up to serene views of the backwaters coming to life, with a background score of birds, as the sun comes up.
