Ladakh, India’s stunning cold desert, is known for its rugged terrain and high altitude. But it also a habitat for the elusive snow leopard.
We are excited to bring you a Snow Leopard Expedition that will take you through snow-covered landscapes, visiting areas known for snow leopard sightings, and staying in campsites or local guesthouses, under the expertise of a local guide familiar with the terrain and the behavior of snow leopards.
Snow Leopard expeditions are not just about spotting snow leopards; participants also get the opportunity to observe other wildlife, such as blue sheep, ibex, and various bird species.
You’ll also learn about wildlife conservation and education about the fragile ecosystem in which snow leopards live.
Ladakh is rich in culture, and as you’ll be staying in guest houses and homestays, the expedition will proffer the opportunity to interact with local communities, providing you with a deeper understanding of the region’s traditions and lifestyle.
Guests will also visit a local cultural festival that will further enhance their understanding of the region and it’s people.
There was a time when this kind of expedition involved trekking, but now the sites are approachable by cars and a little walking only is necessary. However, since Ladakh is located at a high altitude, even a little walking may be strenuous on the lungs. A fair degree of fitness is therefore, highly recommended.
We are pleased to share the itinerary of Snow Leopard Quest Expedition, Ladakh.
