TRAVEL PLAN

15 April – Day 1:

– Arrive at Guwahati airport. We would recommend reaching latest by 12:00 PM.

Our Services Begin

– After loading the luggage, drive to Shillong. Drive will take 2.5 hours. Enroute visit Umiam Lake.

– Check in at hotel. Evening at leisure.

– Dinner in-house. Overnight at Shillong.

16 April – Day 2:

– Undertake local sightseeing of Shillong, Meghalaya’s lovely Capital city. Shillong peak, Elephant Falls, Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, Ward’s Lake where you can enjoy boating, Cathedral Catholic Church and Lady Hydari Park.

– Evening at leisure at the hotel. Dinner in-house. Overnight at Shillong.

17 April – Day 3:

– After breakfast, check out of hotel and head to Pynursla.

– A detour will take you to Laitlum Canyons – Meghalaya’s natural wonders – their very own grand canyon. Stroll through the pine-flanked country paths and stand on the edge of the grassy plateau and the mountains open up into a deep chasm. Laitlum is around 22 kms from Shillong.

– Check into hotel. Evening at leisure at the hotel. Dinner in-house. Overnight at Pynursla.

18 April – Day 4:

– After breakfast, visit Mawllynnong Village.

– Mawlynnong/Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. The village known for its cleanliness is located around 90 kms from Shillong and is a community based eco-tourism initiative. The community has made collective effort to maintain the ambience of a clean village.

– Visit Dawki, the Bangladesh Border (Tamabil Border from Bangladesh side). Main attraction is the Umngot river with crystal clear water. We can take you to a small village where the water is clearer but the boating site is a walk away from the nearest parking spot. At least 30-40 steps would have to be climbed down and back up. Life jackets are given to all.

– Back to hotel and evening at leisure. Overnight at Pynursla.

19 April – Day 5:

– After breakfast, check out of hotel and head to Cherrapunjee.

The hotel is located in Laitkynsew – the village that is renowned for its living root bridges which are known as “Jingkieng Deingjri” locally. The living root bridges are one of the must-see architectural wonders of Meghalaya. Built by the Khasis, strong and sturdy living roots are diverted such that they become a pathway over a river. Thus these serve as bridges and ease transportation.

– Day at leisure. Dinner in-house. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

20 April – Day 6:

– After breakfast, visit Mawphlang Sacred Forest.

– For centuries now, Khasi customs and traditions have been woven into the land and the forests. One of these forests still retains its significance today – the Sacred Groves of Mawphlang. Visitors are not allowed to take anything away from this hallowed forest, not even a pebble or a twig. The dark canopy above and soft humus under your feet will transport you to a primaeval age – a contrast from the green meadows and sprightly pines that dominate the surrounding hills.

– Apart from rare plants, mushrooms, and trees, the forest is also home to old coronation and sacrificial sites. This was where Khasi kings and ceremonial leaders (Ki Lyngdoh) had their meetings and new chiefs were anointed here. The sites are marked with monoliths, still reminders of a dignified past as the forest creeps around them.

– Evening at leisure. Dinner in-house. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

21 April – Day 7:

– Today morning after breakfast, check out and drive to Guwahati airport. Drive will take about 5 hours. Guests are requested to book themselves on evening flights back to their respective cities.

We’ve Got Love !!!

Our trip to Meghalaya in May 2022 was very well customized as per our choices. The sightseeing locations and hotels was very well coordinated. It was easy to work with Ritu Goyal, the owner of the company who ensured and looked after each and every detail of the itinerary. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to planning more such trips with Ease India Travel
