An exciting excursion that is a blend of the finest cuisine, historical and cultural experience of Fort Kochi.
Fort Kochi is a quaint suburb in Kochi, popularly known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, a historical city tucked on the western coast of Kerala.
This excursion is designed to offer patrons an insight into how Kochi (or Cochin, as it was formerly known) became a cultural hotpot with the Anglo Indians, the Portuguese, the Dutch, the English, the Syrian Christians and even the Jews making it their home.
Get started with this tour at 12:00 PM with your car picking you up from the meeting point – Fort Kochi Jetty – and drive to meet and greet at the restaurant, where we will host guests for a sit down lunch of authentic Kerala cuisine with a few dishes of Syrian Christian influence thrown in.
The restaurant is located along the backwaters and offers a splendid view. Lunch will include non-vegetarian and vegetarian fare such as Chicken Ularthu, Kerala Chicken roast, Fried fish, Kerala fish curry, Beef ularthu or beef roast and thoran, veg ularthu, olan, Kuttu curry, potato podimas, a gravy made with green mango called Manga charu, Dry Prawn chammandi, Coconut chammandi etc.
At 2:00 PM bid goodbye to our gracious host and move towards Santa Cruz Basilica – a 450 year old church, followed by St. Francis Church.
In the evening around 3:00 PM enjoy a Hi Tea at David Hall, a contemporary art gallery, cultural venue & café in a restored 17th century Dutch colonial bungalow. Move towards a cultural centre and experience a mesmerising performance of Kalaripayattu – a gift to the modern world and the mother of all martial arts. Legend traces the 3000-year-old art form to Sage Parasurama- the master of all martial art forms and credited to be the re-claimer of Kerala from the Arabian Sea.
Enjoy your evening time by watching Kathakali performance. Kathakali is a “story play” genre of art, but one distinguished by the elaborately colourful make-up, costumes and face masks that the traditionally male actor-dancers wear.
Say Good bye after performance at the end of an exciting day. Car will drop you off at the Jetty.
