TRAVEL PLAN
Day 1:– Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu. Undertake sightseeing as per preference – National Memorial Chorten (iconic temple in the heart of Thimphu built by the Queen Mother), Buddha Statue and the Thimphu Dzong (it is the fortress where the country’s parliament is located and is open to tourists in the evenings for an hour amidst tight security) and the Clock Tower.
– Another exciting place is Thimphu’s post office where one can see the stamps that Bhutan is famous for. One can also get personalised stamps made.
Day 2:– More sightseeing today – Takin Reserve (the only place in Bhutan where you can see their National animal, the Takin), National Textile Museum (a veritable treasure trove of Bhutanese textile history), and Changankha Lhakhang (where the Bhutanese go to seek blessings for their new born children).
– After lunch, head to Simply Bhutan – an endeavour of the 3rd Queen Mother to showcase Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and history to tourists. It is a unique experience.
– Evening free to roam in the city. You’ll probably also cross the country’s only traffic island manned by a traffic policeman.
Day 3:– Check out of Thimphu and head to Punakha district. If the breakfast is had early, then we could stop at a fortress called the Simtokha Dzong (one of the oldest in Bhutan, has about 15 steps). Next stop would be the Dochu-La (a high altitude pass where 108 chortens have been constructed). See the famous Fertility Temple called Chime Lhakhang and the longest suspension bridge of Bhutan.
– Relaxed evening.
Day 4:– After an early breakfast, leave for Paro. Visit Kichyu Lhakhang (one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan), National Museum and Paro Dzong (fortress) as well. You may also visit Dungtse Lhakhang which is a unique circular shaped temple that has no lights inside.
– Evening free for hot stone bath/shopping on the main street.
Day 5:– Departure day from Paro after breakfast.

2. An English speaking guide is a friend on the trip as there are many things about the country only a guide will be able to tell you. Since most foreign tourists in Bhutan are accompanied by a guide (due to the 250 USD per day, per person embargo), you will also notice that they have few signboards inside temples and monasteries and absolutely no archaeological or cultural history written any where
3.Hotels – We lodge our guests in 3 star category hotels. They will have heating, hot water and provision for extra blankets. Wi-fi may or may not be available given weather conditions. These hotels have good service standards. You may read the reviews online. Hotels are subject to availability.
Thimphu – Thimphu Tower/City Hotel
Punakha – Hotel Lobesa/Drubchhu Resort
Paro – Tashi Namgay Resort/Khangkhu Resort/Dharma Resort
4. Food – All breakfasts will be buffet style. Your guide will give you restaurant recommendations for lunches and dinners based on your preferencey
5. You will travel by a comfortable 8 seater Toyota Hiace bus through the trip. Since it is a mountain country, travelling time between two districts is quite high as you cover about 25-30 kms per hour.
6. Bhutan has hospitals and medical centres across the country. Thimphu, the capital city, where you spend 2 days has the main hospital. All hospitals have emergency service as well. Treatment to tourists is rendered free of cost as per the policy of the Government of Bhutan.
7. At Bhutan, Indians get a permit on arrival for Paro and Thimphu and permits to other districts have to be applied for separately. However, we apply for and give you an ePermit from inside Bhutan to enable smooth transfer within the country.

First of all I express my thanks to Ritu and team for arranging the recent blissful Bhutan trip. It was an enlightening, enjoyable as well as an entertaining experience. I am happy with our stay and transportation. Our guide Jampee’s eloquent narration and our driver Sonam’s expert navigation helped to understand the country better.
I am sure, I had succeeded to smuggle at least a handful of ‘Bhutanese happiness’ when I boarded the flight back home. Thank you all once again for making a dream come true and looking forward to your next venture. All the best!!
