Weekend Break In Bahrain
A small island nation in the Persian Gulf, the Kingdom of Bahrain is undoubtedly an underrated destination compared to some of its neighbours in the Middle East. Despite being geographically isolated from the mainland, Bahrain first came under the global limelight for its famous pearl fisheries that were once considered the best in the world.
Fast forward to this day and Bahrain has emerged as a tolerant, high income and exciting country in the region, offering upscale hospitality options and a wide gamut of activities for travellers.
The country has its own Formula 1 grand prix, a growing art and foodie scene frequented by Manama’s sizeable expat population, and all the hallmarks of wealth, modern Arabian style.
TRAVEL PLAN
Day 1:– Arrive in Bahrain. Transfer to Hotel.
– We will start your sightseeing with a trip to the Al Fateh Grand Mosque – is both Bahrain’s largest place of worship and among one of the largest mosques in the world. Next you will move to the National Museum, the country’s most popular tourist attraction.
– After lunch you head to Muharraq, the former capital of Bahrain, known for its cultural contributions through the many restored traditional Bahraini houses that can be found amidst the narrow lanes and byways.
– Next on the sightseeing agenda is Manama – the largest city of Bahrain, where you will visit Little India, Khalaf House, Gold Souk and Al Arrayed House in particular.
– On way back to the hotel, you will stop at the World Trade Centre for a photo op. Evening free for shopping.
– Dinner in-house.
Day 2:– This morning, you’ll step out to have a traditional Bahraini breakfast followed by visit to Tree of Life (a 9.75 meters (32 feet) high tree that is over 400 years old located 40 kilometers from Manama).
– After lunch, you will go to Al Jasra Handicraft, that was established to help preserve Bahrain’s local crafts and heritage, including as textiles, woodwork and basket weaving. The Centre holds workshops so visitors can see the traditional crafts taking place and the local women are pleased for you to sit and watch them work.
– Camel Farm visit will be followed by Light & Sound show at the spectacular Bahrain Fort.
– Evening free for shopping.
– Dinner in-house.
Day 3:– Departure day. Coach drops you off at the airport.

Mosque: Bahraini women usually wear loose clothes that cover their hair, arms and legs. In general, a woman’s knees and shoulders need to be covered, although formally, it is a requirement only when visiting Grand Mosque. Hair needs to be covered too, when visiting a Mosque. When visiting a Mosque, shoes are not allowed to be worn inside the premises.
Men are not allowed to wear shorts, and sleeveless tops are forbidden for both men and women, and clean attire with mild unobtrusive perfume is preferred.
Traditional Areas: Traditional areas include souq, villages, central market etc. For central market clothes can be less formal. If wearing skirts, however, it should be below the knee. But, long skirts and pants are preferable. No spaghetti strap or cleavage. Men can preferably wear long trousers rather than shorts.
It is better not to wear white outfits or your best clothes here, as some places are a bit dusty.
Malls and Restaurants: Although shorts are not permitted, people dress casually, and it is not necessary to dress conservatively. But, if you prefer to wear skirts, it is best to wear skirts below the knee.
Flashy gowns are worn in restaurants. But the rule of thumb would be do dress as the locals do. Being presentable is inevitable.
Beach: Shorts are okay. No speedos. In private beaches, any normal swim wear is okey, though nudity is banned. For public beaches, wear what you would wear for a mall, as revealing swimming outfits are now allowed.
