Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Mount Makalu, Mount Cho Oyu are just a few giants on the list, the territory of Nepal is cherishing these magnificent peaks for an ago now and takes pride in flaunting the snow tips.

Nepalis hold a decent identity when it comes to the culture they look up to. Kathmandu Valley is recognised as the cultural metropolis of Nepal right from the 18th century. Nepalis adhere to religion and customs as a non-separable aspect of their lives.

Occasions and Cuisine is a delight that adds antiquity to the calendar of Nepal. The Nepalis live a joyous calendar full of occasions every year alongside complementing tongue quenchers.

Nepal embraces a huge diversity when it comes to religion. Nepal recites the secularism at its best as people from different religious perspectives like Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Sikhism, Bon, Ancestor Worship, and Animism live together under the same shelter.

The Buddha is highly worshipped in Nepal and the diversity here mostly follows the views of Buddha with the noble intents like Ahimsa that is Non-Violence and prefers not to eat beef.

The customs in Nepal symbolises decency and a touch of ancient beliefs. You will often be asked to left out the stuff made with animal leather while stepping into any temple or could be asked to remove your foot-ware while entering a house. This clearly signifies the ethnic gratitude Nepalis have towards the culture they admire.

History of Nepal

Nepal that we get to see today was never the same in the past. The country has traversed a lot to symbolise itself on the World map and owns the existence that it has earned with hard strife.

Kathmandu Valley was the only region that was known as “Nepal” before Nepal sprung up as a whole and sole country. This is the only reason why Nepal history holds each and every thread vowed up starting from the Valley of Kathmandu.

The traces to Nepal in Mahabharata, Puranas and Buddhist and Jaina scriptures represent the uniqueness of the existence of the realm.

As we all know, Nepal is highly influenced by two neighbours, India and China. Nepal existed in the Himalayas and this isolated position invoked many outsiders to intervene which outputted Nepal as a nation with multi-ethnic and multi-cultural beliefs.

Most of the population of Nepal is either Hindu or Buddhist and so does the culture seem dipped with the views of either communal belief.

Nepali is the national language of Nepal which was previously known as Khas Kura.
Nepal battled for democracy in the 20th century, and eventually failed. From the late 1990s up to 2008, Nepal was in a civil dispute. In June 2008 Nepal was renamed as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and it became a federal republic.

Lumbini

Lumbini, the holy realm where Lord Buddha was born.
This holy pilgrimage was enlisted as a World Heritage in 1997. The holy place comprises of many temples inclusive of Mayadevi temple, museums, and Lumbini International Research Institute. The land is considered highly sacred and blessed with the existence of Lord Buddha.
To start the journey to experience the holy heritage of Nepal should always start off from Lumbini.

Swayambhunath Stupa

Well, you must be stunned why is this addressed as Monkey Temple?
To unfold the mystery, you must visit this holy pilgrimage in Nepal that offers beautiful landscapes to the city of Kathmandu from the top.
It’s located near about a few kilometers in the west from Kathmandu city. Swayambhunath Stupa is considered as the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site amongst others and is a central attraction for the religious practises.
To talk about the recent additions, Tibetan monastery, museum and library are the latest up-gradations that have been made to the site.

The Pashupatinath temple,

The Pashupatinath temple,the most abuzz Hindu Temple Complex situated at the banks of Bagmati River.
Pashupatinath Temple was enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1979.
This beautiful architecture is said to be a perfect blend of art and culture. If you cherish a true sprit for heritage then Pashupatinath Temple is the right place for you to explore.
The wide area of 246 hectors has been built up and decorated with many monuments and temples where you will get to see different Hindu Gods and Goddesses being worshipped. Each of the temples has a different set of rituals.

Muktinath Temple

Muktinath Temples is situated in Muktinath Valley Nepal and is also enlisted under World’s highest temples.
Hindu God Vishnu is said to have the existence in the idol that is being worshipped at Muktinath Temple. According to Hindu Mythology, God Vishnu got salvation from a curse by Brinda, who was the wife of Jalandhar, here at Muktinath.
To encompass this phenomenon of salvation, Mukti that is “Salvation” and Nath that is “ God/ Goddess” have been framed together and this place has been named after God Vishnu’s salvation as Muktinath.
There are 108 waterspouts at the backyard of Muktinath temple and according to Hindu Mythology, if one is approaching for salvation from his/her deeds, then he/she must visit this Muktinath temple and must bath in the 2 Kunda’s ( Ponds). It is believed that this ritual opens the doors for salvation.
