The Plan

Day 1, 29th June, Saturday –

  • Welcome to the land of surprises. After you arrive at Raipur, set ahead with your backpacks to Jagdalpur, an estimated distance of 290km which would take roughly about 6 hours by car or bus.  On your adventurous trip, visit Tatamari, a place to feel the serenity of the land ahead. Enjoy the scenic valley view and move towards Kondagaon – the centre of Belmetal and Wrought Iron handicrafts. The fine detailed work of the artisans will surely mesmerize you. Give into focus the craft-making techniques which are being followed since ages. On arrival at Jagdalpur, check-in at the hotel.
  • Overnight stay at the Budget hotel in Jagdalpur.

Day 2, 30th June, Sunday –

  • Early morning check-out from the hotel to spend your full day in a village excursion to understand the lifestyle of the tribals of Bastar region. During evening time, visit one of the famous tribal markets to get a closer picture into the lives of tribals. Spend your time with the Dhurwa tribes of Bastar who are very skilled in basketry. Explore the market to have the taste of local dishes, also do not forget to taste the local beverages. Get in to watch cockfight, the most awaited time of a tribal market.
  • Overnight Camp at an interior village.

Day 3, 1st July, Monday –

  • With the crowing of the rooster, wake up to visit Tirathgarh Waterfalls in Kanger Valley National Park. Be a part of the small trek near this cascading beauty. While trekking, enjoy the moments in the forest landscape. Post lunch, visit Amcho Bastar Bazaar, an emporium for the handicrafts of Bastar and the local food products.  It is a good hub to have some souvenirs for your loved ones. After a thrilling day, spend your night listening to the thunderous whispers of the gigantic Chitrakote Falls. Enjoy the thunderous uproar of the Falls along with tribal food, bonfire.
  • Overnight at Chitrakote Adventure Camp.

Day 4, 2nd July, Tuesday –

  • Have an adventurous start of your day by being a part of the trek to a beautiful waterfall. Get drenched under the waterfall and have fun. Post lunch, visit some of the less explored waterfalls of Bastar region and enjoy the hues of sunset with the valley view.
  • Overnight stay at the budget hotel, Jagdalpur.

Day 5, 3rd July, Wednesday –

  • Drive to one of the most-sought out adventurous destinations of Chhattisgarh, Dholkal. After breakfast, have the thrill of the adventuresome trek through the thick forest cover of Dholkal. The idol of Lord Ganesha is situated on a hilltop at the height of 3000 feet. The time and person behind its establishment is still a mystery to date. Trekking through the lush green forests would give the much-required adrenaline rush to complete the last 200 metre patch of the trek. Relax down at the base camp with the Mountain View, bonfire and traditional cuisine to savor in.
  • Overnight stay at Dholkal Jungle Camp

Day 6, 4th July, Thursday –

  • Leave the campsite to explore one of the unexplored waterfalls of Chhattisgarh, Sathdhar Falls. Hop in the sparkling water to enjoy the mesmerizing landscape around. Move further to relax your feet by the river beachside at Muchnaar. You will see the magnificence of river Indravati here. Post lunch, drive back to Jagdalpur. Get ready to be a part of the unique festival of Bastar, known by the name “Goncha”. Observe and enjoy the festive colours of Goncha in its full glory during evening time. The giant wooden chariots set in procession around the city of Jagdalpur would reflect into the tribal culture of Bastar. Bid adieu to the land of mysteries for your onward journey.
  • Overnight journey to Raipur.

Day 7, 5th July, Friday –

  • Freshen up. Transfer to Railway station/airport.

If we have the time, we will also explore a village that even the local administration does not visit!
