The Plan

Day 1

  • Welcome to the land of surprises. Having arrived at Raipur, head to the land of mysteries, Jagdalpur, an estimated distance of 290km which would take roughly about 6 hours by car or bus. On your way enjoy the scenic valley view at Tatamari and grab the fresh air of audaciousness. Moving ahead, observe the detailed craftsmanship of Belmetal and Wrought Iron artisans at Kondagaon who are involved in one of the oldest craft-making techniques of the present world. You would be surprised to see how the craftsmen pour out their imagination into the artefacts. On arrival at Bastar, have your leisure time at the resort with the waterfall view.

Day 2

  • With the thunderous flow of the gigantic Chitrakote and the chirping of the birds, wake up to visit some of the less explored waterfalls of Bastar region and enjoy the vibrant colours of the sky with the valley view. Visit Narayanpal Temple to be mused by the sculptural skills of the sculptors of the gone era. Legends are outspoken to add more beauty to its glorifying history. Move your beat on the rhythm of tribal instruments of the tribal dance. Enjoy the delicious tribal food from the local cuisine and have fun while boating in the cool waters of Chitrakote Falls. Be at awe to see the outspread beauty of the majestic Falls.

Day 3

  • Start your day with the view of a beautiful waterfall cascading down through rocky structures and marking its presence in the green ambience. History of Bastar can be well understood through many means. The entire picture of Bastar would be more clear when you visit the Anthropological Museum at Jagdalpur. The lifestyle of the many tribes is well shown through the daily usage items preserved in the Museum. Visit Danteshwari Temple to witness the glory of the most revered goddess of tribals. Head further to the premises of Jagdalpur Palace where the royal family of the then ruling dynasty still resides. Get back to the times of the glorious past while walking in the gallery. Visit Amcho Bastar Bazaar, an emporium for the handicrafts of Bastar and the local food products. It is a good hub to have some souvenirs for your loved ones.

Day 4

  • Spend your day in a village excursion to understand the lifestyle of the tribals of Bastar region. You would be amazed to see their simple lifestyle totally in harmony with nature. Post lunch, visit one of the famous tribal markets to get a closer picture into the lives of tribals. Spend your time with the Dhurwa tribes of Bastar who are very skilled in basketry. Explore the market to have the delicacies of tribal cuisine, also do not forget to taste the local beverages. (Madpaal market)

Day 5

  • Drive to the city of temples and lakes – Barsoor. Once the capital city of many ruling dynasties, Barsoor holds the cultural heritage of Bastar. Visit the temples and get captivated by the amazing architectural style of the past. Explore one of the unexplored waterfalls of Chhattisgarh, Sathdhar Falls. Adore the beauty of the sparkling water and the steep rocky formations at Sathdhar. On the way decode the messages on the tribal memory pillars, erected in the memories of the deceased.

Day 6 –

  • Visit Tirathgarh Waterfalls in Kanger Valley National Park. Waterfall cascading down the rocky structures will attract you more towards it. Quench your thirst of adventure by going down to the last step of waterfalls and soak in completely. Post lunch, spend some time with the local people and visit one of the weekly tribal markets predominated by the Dhurwa tribes. (Chingpal market) Dhurwa tribe is considered as one of the bravest tribes of Bastar for its legendary tales.
  • Post lunch, get ready to be a part of the unique festival of Bastar, known by the name “Goncha”. Observe and enjoy the crazy enthusiasm among locals for the festive colours of Goncha in its full glory during evening time. Hordes of people would definitely tell the grandeur of this festival. The giant wooden chariots would be set in procession around the city of Jagdalpur. Bid adieu to the land of mysteries for your onward journey. Check-in to be at ease for the last part of the journey.
  • Drive to Raipur. Overnight at hotel in Raipur.

Day 7 –

  • Morning transfer to the airport. Return home with happy memories of a fulfilling trip.
